Inclusion Policy
We will support and develop an inclusive environment for all children and adults within Greenacres. This includes a programme, curriculum and environment where each child is welcomed and included on equal terms, feel they belong and can progress in all areas of development. The Inclusion Coordinators are Carla Power and Tara Carroll. Greenacres will support learning and participation that does not exclude any child or groups of children, each child will be given equal opportunities to participate in all that we do. This is achieved when we use a child-centred equality and diversity approach to create an inclusive learning environment.
Partnership with Parents Policy
Parents and staff will work in unison. The policy in our Crèche is based on an understanding of the fundamentals of a partnership between parents and staff in the best interests of the child. It is important for parents to inform staff of any issues in the child’s home life as this can help us to understand how the child is feeling. Parents are assured of complete confidentiality. Parents feedback is always welcome, if you have ideas on how we can improve our service we would love to hear them. If you want to discuss your child’s progress please feel free to talk to any staff member, if you have any concerns again please talk to us about them, and we will endeavour to work with you to resolve them.

Closure Policy
We endeavour to remain open 50 weeks of the year, however due to adverse weather conditions or conditions outside our control we may be required to close. If we have no electricity, we will remain closed until power is resumed. Parents will continue to pay the creche fees as normal during these closures as staff will continue to be paid. We close for two weeks at Christmas and these weeks will also be paid for, as overheads and costs still apply
Outdoor Play
Outdoor play is essential to early childhood development. They learn social skills by interacting with other children, with adults and with objects and natural materials found in the environment. The outdoor environment exposes children to opportunities to explore, question, and develop theories about how things work. Negotiation, language and co-operation are all skills that develop through a well-planned outdoor curriculum. Outdoor play, physical activity and fresh air are important to children’s overall health and well-being.
We believe outdoor play is vital for the overall development of each child, we aim to endure that children play outdoors everyday no matter the weather. Our intention, through the outdoors is to enhance gross motor skills, coordination, balance and body awareness. It also gives children opportunities to socialise freely and use their imagination and initiative. The outdoor area will have a range of activities to: climb, run, crawl, balance, jump, throw, catch, pour, sort, etc. Safety is of the utmost importance, and staff will be vigilant when it comes to supervision. Ratios will remain the same outdoors, as indoors and inline with Tusla recommendations. We will ensure that all equipment is kept clean and safe.

Birthday Celebrations
Children’s birthdays are celebrated in the creche on the day of their birthday. Parents are welcome to bring in a small cake for the celebrations. Due to allergies, we ask that cakes do not contain nuts.
